FAQs

How far in advance do we need to contact you to get a quote and have the work done?

October or November. We do tend to book up early in the season and as the season continues, our scheduling flexibility diminishes. We highly recommend having your lights installed early. We will do everything possible to accommodate your preferred installation date.

Do I need to purchase the lights and decorations?

The Light Guys lease all decorations, lights, extension cords and materials needed. This ensures all decorations and lighting are in top condition, approved for outdoor use and prepared properly for the season. You can read all about our service on the What we do page.

When should I schedule my Christmas light installation?

The lights can usually be installed according to your preference. However, we do tend to book up early in the season and as the season continues, our scheduling flexibility diminishes. We highly recommend having your lights installed early. We will do everything possible to accommodate your preferred installation date.

When will my lights be removed?

Starting January 2nd, our office will contact you to arrange a day and time to remove your lighting and décor. Generally you can expect your lights to be removed within the first two weeks of January. If you want your lights off earlier, you can simply unplug the photocell timers or call the office to have one of our technicians do it for you.

Can the rain be a cause of my lights not turning on?

The most common reason lights do not turn on is because a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet has turned off as a safety feature, which is associated with your existing electrical wiring. Resetting a GFCI outlet is easy: locate the outlet that is not working, make sure that all the electrical cords and lighting are dry, and simply push the reset button back in. If it does not reset, the outlet may still be sensing moisture.

How long will my Christmas lighting installation take?

Most jobs are done in one day; if the job is really big it will take two days.

Do we need to be home for the installation?

Not for exterior installations. Our trained installation crews are efficient and can complete your installation regardless of your availability.

Is there a difference between your lights and the ones I can buy at my local retailer?

Absolutely! Our decor is manufactured to our specifications—longer-life bulbs and extra fullness on all of our greenery. We also feature UL-rated, outdoor extension cords, a variety of property-friendly installation accessories and commercial-grade specialty décor. You won’t find better quality anywhere!

How much does your service cost?

The cost of your Christmas light installation depends on how many lights are used, as well as the size and difficulty of your home. When meeting with you, we can discuss all of the lights and decorations that will be used on your home or business, and depending on the products chosen, the prices will vary. Our quotes include installation, removal, and products. We do all kinds of jobs, from small to large.
